Chris Waggoner, Assistant Revisor, Office of Revisor of Statutes, provided the committee with a briefing of the bill (Attachment 6)

Proponents:    Representative Scott Hill, 70th District, Kansas Legislature , presented verbal testimony in support of HB2502 that would designate the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad as the official state heritage railroad. (Attachment 7)

Elijah Elliott, a student at Enterprise Elementary School, provided the committee with verbal testimony in support of HB2502 that would designate the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad as the official state heritage railroad. (Attachment 8) 

Deihl Elliott, a student at Enterprise Elementary School, gave the committee verbal testimony supporting HB2502 designating the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad as the official state heritage railroad.   (Attachment 9)

Dayton Ritcha, a student at Enterprise Elementary School, also gave the committee verbal testimony of HB2502 that would designate the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad as the official state heritage railroad.  (Attachment 10)

Ross K Boelling, President and General Manager of the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad supported HB2502 designating the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad the official state heritage railroad.(Attachment 11)

Julie Roller Weeks, of the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau presented  verbal testimony in support of HB2502 designating the Abilene Valley Railroad the official state heritage railroad. (Attachment 12)

Bob St. John, president of the Topeka chapter of the National Railway Historical Society provided the committee with written testimony in support of HB2502 that would designate the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad as the official state heritage railroad.(Attachment 13 )

Fifth grade students of Eisenhower Elementary School of Abilene Kansas, provided written testimony to the committee supporting HB2502 that would designate the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad as the official state heritage railroad.  (Attachment 14)

There were no opponents and no neutral testimonies.

The chair closed the hearing on HB2502.

The meeting adjourned at 2:15 P.M.
