2026 Session Deadlines

Key dates and cutoffs for the 2026 legislative session.

The following dates are the deadlines for introduction and consideration of bills for the 2026 session. These deadlines were adopted as part of the Joint Rules of the Senate and House of Representatives for the 2025–2026 biennium.

Monday, January 26

Last day for a member or members to REQUEST bill drafts from the Revisor's office.
Monday, February 2

Last day for non-exempt committees to REQUEST bill drafts from the Revisor's office. Last day requests for introduction or sponsorship can be on non-exempt committee agendas.
Wednesday, February 4

Last day for individuals to INTRODUCE bills in the originating chamber. Bills must be submitted to chamber staff during daily session for introduction.
Friday, February 6

Last day for non-exempt committees to INTRODUCE bills in the originating chamber. Bills must be submitted to chamber staff during daily session for introduction.
Thursday, February 19 Turnaround Day

Last day to CONSIDER non-exempt bills in the house of origin.
Friday, March 20 Second Chamber Consideration

Last day to CONSIDER non-exempt bills not in the chamber of origin.
Friday, March 27 First Adjournment

No bills considered after this date except bills vetoed by the Governor, the Omnibus appropriations act, and the Omnibus reconciliation spending limit bill. Subject to suspension motion pursuant to Joint Rule 4(k).
Thursday, April 9 Veto Session

Veto session is anticipated to begin.

Exempt Committees

House and Senate Federal and State Affairs; Senate Ways and Means; Senate Assessment and Taxation; House committees on Calendar and Printing, Appropriations, and Taxation; or select committees of either house when so authorized. Exempt bills are those sponsored by, referred to, or acted upon by an exempt committee.
