SUBJECT: 

Fiscal Note for SB 362 by Senator Shallenburger 

 

 

In  accordance  with  KSA  75-3715a,  the  following  fiscal  note  concerning  SB  362  is 

respectfully submitted to your committee. 

 

 

SB 362 would require each state officer’s agency to maintain a full and complete record of 

information  regarding  all  travel  locations  and  expenses  of  each  state  officer  that  were  paid  or 
reimbursed by the state each fiscal year.  Each agency of the state office would be required to 
provide travel location and expense records upon request by a member of the public.  State officers 
would  include  the  Governor,  Lieutenant  Governor,  Attorney  General,  Secretary  of  State,  State 
Treasurer, and Commissioner of Insurance.  The provisions of the bill would not apply to certain 
confidential information, as outlined in KSA 45-221. 

 

 

The Division of the Budget estimates that the enactment of the bill would have no fiscal 

effect.  The agencies of the listed state officers currently as standard practice keep most of the 

required information in the state’s 

central accounting system.  Agencies may have to alter internal 

recordkeeping to make sure the data points required by the bill are available  upon request, but 
likely would be able to meet the requirements of the bill with existing staff and budget.
