The Chair opened the hearing on SB 171.

Nick Myers provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions (Attachment 10).

Jason Meinholdt testified in support of the bill and stood for questions (Attachment 11).  Mr. Meinholdt stated that this bill would ensure that the agency and the state would be ready to better implement the necessary measures needed to license technologically advanced systems in our state.  At present, Kansas does not have a specific licensing fee category for nuclear fusion systems.

There being no further conferees, the Chair closed the hearing on SB 171.
