Chairperson Rahjes opened the hearing on SB89 and recognized Revisor Kyle Hamilton, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, to give the bill brief.(Attachment 1)

Research Analyst, Heather O'Hara, Legislative Research Department, was requested to give the fiscal report.

Chairperson Rahjes called upon Samantha Bonifas, Policy Intern and Flinchbaugh Fellow, Kansas Department of Agriculture, to give Oral Proponent testimony on SB89. (Attachment 2)  She presented details on the bill and asked two people from the Department of Agriculture to assist her in answering questions.  Joining her at the microphone were Sara McReynolds, Assistant Animal Health Commissioner and Josh McGinn, Assistant Secretary.

Taylor Nikkel, Director of the Stockgrowers Division, Kansas Livestock Association, also offered Proponent testimony. (Attachment 3)

Chairperson Rahjes thanked each conferee for her testimony.

Presenting Written-Only Proponent testimony was Gunnar Dunnam, DVM, MS, DACPV, Corporate Veterinarian, Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. (Attachment 4)
