Chairperson Dietrich called the meeting to order and opened the hearing on HB2087. Revisor Eileen Ma gave the Committee a brief of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 1)

Beth Smoller of the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents spoke as a proponent of the bill. (Attachment 2) She explained that the bill was primarily cleaning up terminology to more accurately reflect the language used in federal statute. It also changes the statute in chapter eight to allow car dealers to carry insurance through eligible nonadmitted insurers. She stood for questions after her testimony.

Written only proponent testimony was also received Chris Peterson of Chris-Leef General Agency. (Attachment 3) There was no opponent or neutral testimony.

The hearing on HB2087 was closed by Chairperson Dietrich.
