The Chair opened the hearing on HB2542.

Chris Waggoner provided the committee with a briefing on the bill.(Attachment 1)  

Representative Marty Long, District # 124, gave a brief description of Bill Tucker's life to the committee and proponent testimony as to designating a portion of U.S. Highway 56 in Morton county as the Bill Tucker Memorial Highway. (Attachment 2)

As a grandson, Max Tucker honored his grandfather before the committee,virtually,  by providing proponent testimony of Bill Tucker's individual characteristics and the pride he had in his community of Morton County, Kansas.  (Attachment 3)                                                                                                           

Leo Carillo brought virtual proponent testimony before the committee sharing that the stretch of Highway 56 to be named in Bill Tucker's  memory would be particularly meaningful in that the land was farmed on both sides of that part of the highway by Mr. Tucker and  was central to his daily life,his community and his livelihood. (Attachment 4)

Dan Smith gave proponent virtually testimony to the committee in portraying Mr. Bill  as an "unpaid ambassador of Morgan county" giving back to the community by the lives that he touched with humor, honesty and grit.   (Attachment 5)

Written only  testimony was provided to the committee by Moe Houtz, a private citizen.(Attachment 6)
