Jenna Moyer, Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of HB2740 (Attachment 1).

Alexandra Blasi, Executive Secretary, Kansas Board of Pharmacy, provided testimony in support of HB2740 (Attachment 2). A history of compounding standards in Kansas was given to the committee. Ms. Blasi continued with an overview of pharmaceutical compounding. The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is an independent, scientific non-profit organization that has been setting pharmacy standards for over 200 years and is dedicated to patient safety. Pursuant to Kansas law, the Board conducts routine inspections and audits of Kansas pharmacies and outsourcing facilities. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act establishes that compounding shall comply with USP standards. The Board believes 35 states have already adopted USP compounding standards by reference.

Ms. Blasi responded to questions from the committee.
