Chairperson Petersen opened the Hearing on SB2579. Adam Siebers, Staff Revisor gave an explainer on the bill. (Attachment 7) There were no questions.

Representative Kyle Hoffman spoke as a proponent. In his testimony, (Attachment 8) Representative Hoffman stated HB2579 will designate a portion of K-49 in Sumner County the " Pvt Michael E. Gerber Memorial Highway". This bill will honor his sacrifice to all of us. He was the oldest of 14 children and a graduate of Conway Springs High School and was attending Friends University when he was drafted to Vietnam. He was killed in action on May 27, 1976. This year will make the 50th anniversary of his death and many others who died in Vietnam that year.
