Chairwoman opened final action on SB387.
Chairwoman Estes moved, seconded by Representative Brantley to amend SB387 relating to "At-Risk Student Definition" ; amending K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 72-5132 and repealing the existing section to strike in lines 10-12, inserting the word each and district in line 12, strike in lines 14-17, insert satisfies the requirements of K.S.A. 72-5132(c)(1), and amendments thereto. Such verification may be conducted in line 18, insert satisfy the requirements of K.S.A. 72-5132(c)(1), and amendments thereto in line 23, strike in lines 27 and 28, insert attachment A in line 24 and by renumbering sections accordingly. Motion carried.
Representative Steele moved, seconded by Representative Goetz to amend SB387 and strike requiring legislative authorization to receive special assistance payments under federal law in lines 6 and 7. Motion carried.
Representative Brantley moved, seconded by Representative Steele to amend SB387 and strike written evidence of in line 19 and insert as evidenced by the form 1040 federal income tax return filed by such student's parent or person acting as parent in line 20, insert If no form 1040 is submitted, then other documentation may be submitted as evidence of household gross earned income in line 23. Motion carried.
Representative Brantley moved, seconded by Representative Steele to pass SB387 favorably as amended. Motion carried.
