Chairperson Billinger opened the hearing on HB 2781. David Wiese, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill.  (Attachment 1)

Representative Goetz, 119th District, spoke in support of the bill. This bill would allow the State Historical Society to acquire the junior officers' quarters at Fort Dodge and maintain it as a historic landmark. The building sits on state-owned land and is one of the few remaining original structures. The Historical Society wants to preserve the building and make it into a museum. Representative Goetz responded to questions from Committee members.  (Attachment 2)
