Chair Erickson opened the hearing on SB 13.
Staff provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Clay Barker, General Counsel, Secretary of State Office, spoke in favor of the bill. (Attachment 2) The bill would amend various sections of law and remove filing requirements for certain organizations and agreements, potentially saving time and addressing concerns about task handling during transitions.
Jake Miller, Executive Director, Working Kansas Alliance, provided neutral written testimony. (Attachment 3) If the bill is amended in committee to keep business agent filings a requirement with the Secretary of State's Office for labor unions, their position would move to proponent.
