The Chair opened the hearing on HB 2109.
Nick Myers gave an overview of the bill and stood for questions (Attachment 1).
Jeremy Noel testified in support of the bill and stood for questions (Attachment 2). Mr. Noel provided several examples of how law enforcement had used these mounted cameras to increase public safety.
Ed Klumpp testified in support of the bill and stood for questions (Attachment 3). Mr. Klumpp wanted to make clear that this bill was about ensuring that any liability that may occur would be with the law enforcement agency that requested the mounted camera and not be placed on the utility company that allowed this service.
Joseph Astrab, Consumer Counsel, CURB provided neutral written only testimony on the bill (Attachment 4). Mr. Astrab was asked to respond to a question by the committee.
Laura Lutz, Director, Government Affairs, Evergy provided neutral written only testimony on the bill (Attachment 5).
