Chairwoman opened the hearing on SB246.
Natalie Scott provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions and further discussion. (Attachment 1)
Proponent Conferees:
Bob Stuart, Executive Officer, Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), provided an introduction of Tony Mattivi Director, KBI, who gave the proponent presentation He stated the KBI is committed to enhance public safety in our state. One important way to do this is through accurate and timely dissemination of fingerprint based criminal histories. (Attachment 2)
Lacey Hunter, Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), Commission of Survey, Certification & Credentialing, gave proponent presentation. She stated KDADS has been running criminal history checks for employees and applicants. She said this bill ensures KDADS' ability to perform criminal history record checks for several professions and facility types that the agency licenses.(Attachment 3)

Senator Senator Ryckman had several questions that Nicole Mattox, Information Services Division Director, KBI replied to and will follow up to those questions still outstanding
