Chairperson Dietrich opened the hearing on HCR 5013 and asked Revisor Eileen Ma to provide an overview. (Attachment 5)
Eric Turek of the Department of Insurance gave testimony in support of the bill. (Attachment 6) He explained that this resolution, which passed the House with a vote of 116-2, urges Congress to give state insurance regulators authority over Medicare Advantage plans. The state receives frequent complaints from consumers regarding marketing and deceptive advertising but all the state can do is refer complaints on to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with little to no resolution. He answered questions from the Committee.
As there was no further testimony by opponents or neutrals, Chairperson Dietrich closed the hearing on HCR 5013.
