Chairman Erickson opened the hearing on SB340.
Tamera Lawrence, Assistant Revisor, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, gave a brief overview if the bill. (Attachment 1)
Proponent:
Heather Morgan, Executive Director, Kansas Association of Community Colleges, said this bill outlines the implementation steps recently enacted in the One Big Beautiful Bil Act Public Law No. 119-21, Section 83002. The Board of Regents established a work group which she will serve on to make recommendations to the Governor on this topic. The federal law did not automatically make programs eligible for Workforce Pell nor make programs automatically eligible. This bill fulfills the requirements of the federal law and puts in place the governance structure so Kansas can fully participate in Workforce Pell. (Attachment 2)
