Authorizing the secretary of administration to grant a monetary award to a state employee who reports activity that constitutes fraud, waste or abuse of funds in any program administered by a state agency.

Chair Erickson opened the hearing on SB 450.
Staff provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Proponents:
Senator Michael Murphy testified as a proponent. (Attachment 2) This bill develops a program whereby state employees can essentially gain ownership and save taxpayer dollars and be rewarded for doing so. The Department of Administration is in a perfect position to administer the program. Employees can identify waste, fraud, abuse and inefficiencies and when verified be financially rewarded.
