Chairperson Johnson opened the hearing on SB335.
Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided a briefing of SB335. Ms. Ma stood for questions.(Attachment2)
Proponent Testimony:
Alex Orel, Senior Vice President - Government Relations, Kansas Bankers Association, provided testimony stating SB335 would help keep the cost of health insurance as low as possible for Association Health Plans. (Attachment3) Mr. Orel stood for questions
Shahira Stafford, Kansas Cooperative Council (KCC) provided testimony that SB335 would eliminate the current one percent tax on premiums that Kansas agricultural cooperative pay to the state of Kansas and the bill will help ease the burden of unnecessary costs being passed onto cooperatives and cooperative employees. (Attachment4) Ms. Stafford stood for questions.
